Hailing from Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Justin Smith had a tall task ahead of him this year. He had to replace arguably Adlai E. Stevenson’s best senior class of boys basketball players ever. Starting on the team that won its school’s first ever State Title the season before, Smith was often overshadowed by Connor Cashaw (Rice) and Jalen Brunson (Villanova). After overcoming a slow start, Stevenson was able to finish strong and win the North Suburban Conference yet again. Unfortunately for Smith and the Patriots, they couldn’t repeat as State Champions as they fell to Deerfield High School in the Sectional Semifinal Round. Smith’s performance during the season netted him a second team All-State award, in which he finished averaging 18 points per game and 9 rebounds per game as well. Watch and see the crazy potential Smith has that makes scouts ogle over his every move!
